Looking at the stars at the observatory on the Haunsberg
A visit to the VEGA observatory on the Haunsberg is a very special experience for young and old. Every Monday evening , the observatory opens its doors and invites you to gaze into the vastness of the universe – provided the weather cooperates. Because you can only really observe stars, planets and distant galaxies when the sky is clear.

Platform for science, education and culture
The VEGA observatory was built by the Haus der Natur in the municipality of Nußdorf am Haunsberg and is one of the most powerful public observatories in Central Europe. It sees itself as a platform for science, education, culture and society.
What makes it special is that, in addition to research, education also plays a central role. The observatory wants to get people excited about astronomy, create a space for exchange and encourage people to engage with space topics.
Two moons in one night
Incidentally, our “elf” has also visited the observatory – and admired the moon twice in a single night. You can find the whole article under “2 x moon in one night”.
