Slate upholstered furniture – handcrafted with great attention to detail
At Hannes Schiefer’s upholstered furniture workshop, you can buy mattresses, bedding, curtains, privacy and sun protection, table linen and much more. Everything is lovingly handcrafted, because at Hannes everything is personal, sustainable and individually tailored to the customer’s wishes. That’s why they keep coming back – good service and attention to detail pay off!
Just do it…
Hannes always knew that he wanted to start his own business after completing his apprenticeship as a master upholsterer and decorator. So one day he made his way to the bank, took out a loan and opened the company Polstermöbel Schiefer in 2005. His team now consists of four other employees who love their job just as much as Hannes does and do it with great enthusiasm and passion. In such a small group, the focus is naturally on working together in harmony. Thank goodness that Hannes has found such great employees whose personal strengths complement each other so well!

… could be good!
It is particularly important to Hannes that every little detail is taken into account and that every customer request is catered for. When you come to the upholstered furniture workshop, you will not only find professional craftsmanship, but also a keen sense of space and people. As a true perfectionist, Hannes sets very high standards for himself and does his best to work with you to create a textile room concept that you can feel comfortable with for many years to come.
And to ensure that the new piece of furniture really fits into your home, you can work with Hannes and his team to have the design created entirely according to your wishes. You’re not on your own when it comes to measuring either: if you wish, a professional can take measurements in your home – so that nothing can go wrong.
Every piece of furniture has a story behind it and high-quality furniture can often last for generations. Hannes knows this, which is why he repairs old furniture with great dedication, reupholsters it and adapts it to his customers’ ideas in consultation with them. He doesn’t think much of the throwaway society in which we unfortunately live today and therefore strives to set an example for a more sustainable lifestyle.
Creative, innovative and sensible
This includes the “prison couch” developed by Hannes, whose base frame is manufactured by prisoners in the Puch Urstein prison according to his plans. The frame is then sent to the upholstery workshop, where it is professionally upholstered and covered. Each prison couch is unique and is also provided with a stylish metal emblem with an individual number code. In the future, Hannes would like to offer other products in addition to the prison couch, which will be built in cooperation with prisoners from the prison. We’ll keep you up to date!
As sustainability is an extremely important issue for Hannes, he would like more people to have their old upholstered furniture repaired instead of simply throwing it away and buying something new. Even inexpensive furniture can be reupholstered and visually enhanced with skillful craftsmanship. Hannes and his team will be happy to advise you!
The fact that Hannes has hit the ravages of time with his concept is also shown by the fact that a second branch has now been opened in Salzburg in addition to the showroom in Anthering. The showroom at Imbergstraße 43 is open from Monday to Friday from 10:00 – 14:00. Furniture is sold there and consultations are held. Hannes then visits customers in person to discuss details.
Hannes is still looking for a salesperson for this showroom who is open, honest and outgoing, likes to draw and furnish with great attention to detail. Does this description fit you perfectly? Then get in touch with Hannes quickly and maybe you’ll soon be part of this great team!
Tips for your visit to Anthering
At the end of our conversation, Hannes tells us which places you should definitely visit in Anthering: the Ammerhauser restaurant for its great food, the Hammerschmiede forge, a real gem in Anthering and the Schmidhuber bakery for its excellent bread. Then there are the many craft businesses worth seeing. As you can see, Hannes, a native of Anthering, finds it difficult to choose just one highlight in his town. And of course we are also delighted that our hometown has so much to offer!
