How the “Nannerl” came to Anthering
Today Markus Pfarrhofer, Managing Director of the food producer “Nannerl”, tells you a little more about the company and explains why Anthering was chosen as the production location.
The company was founded in 1975 and was based in Salzburg Sam until 2010. Then came the move to Anthering. There was enough space for the growing company in the new industrial estate, but the proximity to the city of Salzburg also ensured good connections. As “Nannerl” operates internationally and exports to around 40 countries around the world, the choice of location was relatively flexible. Anthering scored points with its short distances for decisions within the municipality and its beautiful location in the countryside.
Although it is currently not always easy to attract new employees to the Anthering site, employees from the north in particular appreciate the fact that they do not have to commute into the city, thus saving time and kilometers.

Nannerl and sustainability
Sustainability is a major issue for Nannerl. This is also reflected in production: production should be as regional and efficient as possible and CO2 neutrality is also important for delivery. A photovoltaic system is also being planned in order to integrate renewable energies.
The “Nannerl” product range includes a variety of spirits, fruit juice concentrates, soups, sauces, spices, vinegars, oils and, more recently, food supplements. This diverse range also has a strong regional focus. The vegetables for the Salzburg vegetable bouillon, for example, come from the Dandlhof farm in Wals, while the salt comes from the Reichenhall salt works. Nannerl’s credo is: as regionally specific as possible!
This is often also reflected in the manufacture of the products, as they are “tailor-made” for the respective target market. For example, the soups for the Finnish market taste different to those for the Central European markets – regionally tailored to customer preferences. And that is also what makes Nannerl products so special: Quality, flexibility and regionality.

As most of the products are sold in bulk, “Nannerl” finds most of its customers in the catering trade or among wholesalers in the intermediate trade. However, individual spices and spirits can now also be purchased from retailers and there are plans to set up an online store in the future, through which a selection of products from the end consumer brand “Viveria” can also be ordered directly to your home.
A workplace for life
An important factor in the company’s success is the people involved. The team now comprises around 80 employees, whose wide-ranging expertise ensures professionalism in all areas. Many employees have been part of the company for years, some for 35 years or more.

Fortunately, almost all employees were able to stay on during Corona, even though the situation was very difficult and business activities were severely restricted due to the complete lockdown of the catering market. Markus Pfarrhofer tells you that despite the support of the state, the short-time working problem was a major challenge for all employees in the company. At the moment, the current wave of inflation and the scarce availability of goods in particular are a challenge that requires a great deal of attention and skillful management.
For all of you who are looking for a stable employer with big plans for the future: “Nannerl” is hiring! We are currently looking for employees in the areas of IT, product development, accounting and skilled workers. What you can expect as a potential employee are the fixed working hours in the factory: production from Monday to Thursday, cleaning on Fridays. This is because strict hygiene regulations naturally apply to food production, to which great importance is attached.
In addition to headhunters and the AMS, the search also runs via “Nannerl’s” social media channels on Facebook and Instagram.
