Summer is spoiling us especially this year: many hours of sunshine lure you out into nature and awaken your spirit of discovery. We have put together our 5 best outdoor tips for you in the nature village of Anthering – there’s sure to be something for everyone!
Tip 1: Walk through the Antheringer Au

The Antheringer Au is an extraordinary natural gem and ideal for cooling off in the shade of the trees in summer. Did you know that forest air contains 90% fewer dust particles than city air and reduces stress? In the unspoiled nature reserve, you can hear birdsong, rustling leaves and perhaps even spot rare animals such as the gray-headed woodpecker, kingfisher, deer, wild boar or beaver. The entrance is right by the local train stop – just cross the tracks and you’re right in the middle of it all.
Tip 2: Running with a panoramic view

The “Hammerschmiede-Ried” loop is ideal for anyone who enjoys walking. It starts at the sports center, leads via Schmieding to the chapel and then to the Fuchsenmühle mill, which still grinds with water power today. If you like, you can make a detour to the hammer mill. Then it’s back via Fuchsbauer, Furital and Sperl. The route is 6.8 km long with an elevation gain of 165 meters. Recommendation: Run in the morning or evening when the sun is weaker.
Tip 3: On the trail of the Maunzteufel by bike

The best place to start this 17 km cycle tour is at the Acharting local train station. The start is steep: via Würzenberg you reach the legendary Maunzgraben, named after the Maunzteufel, half man, half animal. You will find a replica in the village center. The route then continues to the Doppelalm and via Dorfeilten towards Obertum am See. You then cycle downhill via Hohengarten to Anthering. In total, you master around 300 meters in altitude. The trail is marked with green signs and a blue square.
Tip 4: Excursion to the small oases in the nature reserve

The Luginger and Ragginger lakes are popular “little oases”. The path up is steep, but the view of Anthering and the gently rolling hills is worth it. The peaceful surroundings invite you to relax: take a deep breath, sit down and enjoy. You can also spot dragonflies, frogs, ducks, fish and even water snakes.
Tip 5: Fishing in the liver pond

The hidden Lebererteich pond is an insider tip for fishermen. It is located in the middle of the forest and is home to unusual species such as zander, pike, carp, catfish, tench, eel, perch and gilthead bream. Some of them have already been named “Fish of the Year”. Here you can sit comfortably in the shade and, with a bit of luck, land your catch. You can find ticket offices at www.ssfv.at
