The impostors

The impostors – vintage porcelain etagères

Rediscovering old porcelain. Creating something new from something that already exists. That’s the idea behind “The impostors”. And it’s definitely a great idea!

All beginnings are difficult

For Diana and Michael Wimmer and Lienbacher, 2016 begins with a good idea, numerous attempts and a few broken cups and plates. But as we all know, broken glass brings good luck! And so – just in time for Easter – the impostors have hatched from the egg. The production starts in the city of Salzburg, at the kitchen table of a small apartment. It is Diana and Michael’s table. The two share a love of good food, music, flea market visits, unusual design and the joy of experimenting – with food, wood, clay, metal, textiles, stone and porcelain.

The offer

Since then, the two have been creating handmade etageres from vintage porcelain – entirely according to their customers’ wishes. Each piece is unique! On their website, you can put together your very own creation from various options, which Diana and Michael then assemble and ship within three working days. For the completely undecided or those who simply like to be surprised, there is also the option of having a random étagère created. The works of the impostors are also available in selected stores.

But that’s not all! Do you have a few old plates and cups at home that no longer fit into any service but are too beautiful to throw away? Then Diana and Michael have just the thing for you – their drilling service: bring your crockery to them (by appointment) and within 3 days they will create your very own etagere and make it ready for you to pick up.

But what if you like the idea of making etagere so much that you want to try it out yourself? No problem! Because “Die Hochstapler” also offer workshops. Due to the current situation, even at your home! True to the motto: If you can’t come to the workshop, the workshop will come to you. Diana and Michael will provide you with everything you need to build your etagere: vintage porcelain, a drill, tools and materials and, of course, step-by-step video instructions. The project is sure to be a success! And to make sure you don’t have to do it alone, the Hochstapler DIY kits are available in different sizes – for you and your friends.

And finally, Diana and Michael gave us their very personal insider tips for a visit to Anthering: the herb garden, the Hollywood swing in the forest and then wild boar spotting in the Antheringer Au.

Curious? Then take a look!
