Anthering’s floodplain

Enjoying nature in the Antheringer Au

The Antheringer Au is a natural protected area that offers a special experience at any time of year. Quiet places, varied landscapes and fascinating wildlife await you on your way through the floodplain. At the beaver pond, with a bit of luck you can discover traces of beavers, observe rare bird species such as kingfishers or grey-headed woodpeckers and spot roe deer or fallow deer from time to time. And of course wild boar also live here, which – depending on the season – even roam the meadows with their young.

At the end of the path, you reach the mighty Salzach, whose banks invite you to take a peaceful stroll along the water.

Luginger See and Ragginger See – small oases in a protected landscape

There are several small lakes on the ridge between Hochgitzen and Haunsberg, including Luginger See and Ragginger See. These idyllic natural gems are popular destinations for a short trip into the peace and quiet. Many cycle paths in the foothills of the Alps also pass by the lakes – perfect for anyone who wants to combine exercise and nature.

Haunsberg Panorama Trail – the trail of beautiful views

The Haunsberg is perfect for a leisurely panoramic hike. Along the gentle circular trail (approx. 3 hours walking time) you will find information boards with exciting information and small adventure stations for children. Through deliberate “viewing windows”, an impressive panorama opens up to you: the Salzburg Lake District, the Salzburg Basin with the city of Salzburg, the northern Limestone Alps and the Bavarian Alpine foothills. Refreshment stop: Gasthof Kaiserbuche
