Anthering Herb Garden
On around 1000 square meters you will discover more than 200 different medicinal plants. Right next to it you will find a small farmer’s garden with typical flowers from our region such as yarrow, asters and sunflowers. A herb spiral, a raised bed and a rose hill with various wild roses make the garden a particularly lovingly designed place. Frogs and toads also live in the wet biotope between reeds, loosestrife and swamp iris – a small natural paradise in the middle of the village.
The herb garden is freely accessible. Every year on August 15th, the herb garden team celebrates a cozy festival in the garden and sells their homemade products.

Hammer mill and blacksmith museum
The former hammer mill in Acharting at the foot of the Haunsberg brings tradition and craftsmanship to life. Today you will find a hotel with a guest room, which is ideal for romantic celebrations and small gatherings. In one corner of the house there is a cozy blacksmith museum that gives you a glimpse into the history of the forge and its original everyday life.
The Anthering Parish Church
The parish church of Anthering is dedicated to Maria Himmelfahrt and is one of the oldest churches in the Salzburg area. It is already mentioned in the “congestum” of Archbishop Arno as “Ecclesia cum territorio ad Anteringas” among the 67 original churches of the Diocese of Salzburg. At that time, this included the counties of Salzburggau, Chiemgau, Isengau and the Inn Valley. The first building was probably made of wood and was destroyed after the year 900 during the Magyar invasions.
A Romanesque church was built in the 12th century. You can still find traces of this today in the lower part of the west tower – with round arches, zigzag friezes and a bricked-up double window. The current church building dates from the 15th century and has a late Gothic style. The tower extension and the baroque onion dome were added in 1775, as was the current bell storey.
On the south side is a beautiful Gothic vestibule with three pointed arch arcades, supported by two octagonal stone pillars. Under the choir there is a crypt with an originally late Gothic net vault and a bricked-in Roman altar stone – a quiet place that tells a lot about the long history of the church.

The Fuchsmühle – an experience for the whole family
Not far from the Hammerschmiede in Acharting lies the picturesque Fuchsmühle. Here the flour is still ground as grandpa used to do it. You can visit the mill at any time and discover high-quality products for baking in the small sales room. Freshly baked farmer’s bread also awaits you every Tuesday.
